Open World Forum in Paris, 1 and 2 december 2008
An international conference will take place in Paris on December 1 and 2 in order to promote Open Source softwares and support the Open Source research and communities.
The goal of the Open World Forum (OWF) is to organize an international event to present challenges concerning Open Source softwares and the opportunities they offer: new business models, public policies, R & D, impact on the governance of information systems.
The Open World Forum will host a wide variety of workshops, plenary discussions and conferences proposed by Open Source associations, communities and companies. The European consortium QualiPSo has already planned to hold its second annual convention during the OWF.
The OWF has been organized to go in the same direction as other Open Source events : Rencontres Mondiales du Logiciel Libre, Solutions Linux, FOSDEM.
The ambition of the OWF is also to enable the various FLOSS people (Free Libre and Open Source Software) to develop recommandations for policy makers. This "Free Software raodmap" will be discussed and updated over the next editions of the Forum.
Pilot Systems, a French Open Source integration company, participates to the event with several interventions:
- "Cloud Computing" with the Linux / Open Source IBM Guide Share workgroup 09:30, 1 December 2008.
- "CMS/EDM: Sharing the information ». This workshop will take place during the Openday seminar "Manage your Open Source information system".
